SOLO project's SOIL WEEK event
SOIL STATEMENT AND THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE SOIL MISSION'S GOALS
PROGRAM
Date: April 24, 2026 Location: Kossuth Club, 7 Múzeum u., Budapest
The Future Generations Forum, with the involvement of soil science experts from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA), issued a position statement this yearon soil protection. The Statement was drafted based on the scientific findings of the time. Its recommendations regarding legislation and law enforcement. With regard to the multifunctionality of soil and the the key role of the edaphon, it urged the establishment of a holistic soil protection system.
At the European Union level, the European Green Deal issued in 2021 &— similar to the policy statement —drew attention to the vulnerability of soils, as well as the failure to protect and restoration. To reverse these negative trends, the European Commission has set out Soil Mission Targets.&
The Institute of Advanced Studies (FTI/iASK) is participating in the project “Soils for Europe – SOLO), whose task is to develop aresearch and innovation roadmap to help achieve soil mission goals. In light of all this, the goal of the SOLO project’s soil event is to support the development of this roadmap by presenting the results achieved through the soiland the scientific findings uncovered by the SOLO project.
