Yiddish songs and Hebrew prayers at Kőszeg synagogue

We invite our audience on a unique musical journey within the intimate walls of Kőszeg synagogue, where the emotional world of Yiddish songs meets the centuries-old tradition of Hebrew liturgy.

The evening’s performers are students from the National Rabbinical Seminary – Jewish University, who, as young representatives of Jewish liturgical music, will present the rich heritage of this tradition.

Guest artists include flutist Ráchel Gál, a student at Mozarteum in Salzburg, and pianist Zsigmond Kóta, an accompanist at the National Rabbinical Seminary — Jewish University and a composition student at Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.

The evening’s program will feature opera singer Hajnalka Székelyhidi, a student in the cantor program at the National Rabbinical Seminary – Jewish University—who is also the artistic director of the concert.

The concert aims to showcase the richness of the Jewish musical tradition, spiritual depth, and timeless beauty to today’s audience. The prayers and songs featured in the program evoke both the solemnity of the synagogue liturgy and the intimate, human world of Yiddish culture
